COA holds virtual College to Career signing day
College of The Albemarle (COA) held its third annual College to Career (C2C) signing day event in a virtual capacity this year. The C2C event was created to honor students who are committed to entering a career and technical field of study designed to take them from college to career. Students participating signed a letter of intent for their technical program of interest, while having the opportunity to receive scholarship funds for the 2020-21 academic year.
Out of the 46 students who RSVP’d to the event, 16 students completed the required enrollment and “signing day” steps, which included submitting a photo with their letter of intent to allow them to be eligible for C2C scholarships in their program of interest. A total of $12,379 in scholarship award letters were sent and the scholarship funds were provided by COA’s Foundation.
The students who received scholarships plan to enroll in the following programs at COA: Agribusiness Technology, Aviation Systems Technology, Cosmetology, General Business Administration, General Education – Pre-Nursing, Human Services Technology, Information Technology, Surgical Technology and Welding.
“Through the hard work of a dedicated team of college staff, I am excited that we were able to move forward with this year’s signing event in a virtual format,” said Michelle Waters, dean, Business, Industry and Applied Technologies; campus administrator, COA-Currituck. “I can’t wait to have these students join the COA family in the fall as they begin their journey from College to Career!”
Classes for the fall 2020 semester begin August 17 and registration is ongoing. Visit www.albemarle.edu/register for information on how to enroll in classes.
